The CPM One Source team was lucky enough to experience a truly unique event this past month. Thanks to our friends at Produce District, a vendor of specialty coffee goods, we were able to enjoy a fun team bonding experience known as Coffee Cupping.
What is Coffee Cupping?
Coffee is a central part of our productivity in the office. We appreciate coffee for the quick jolt it gives us in the morning and sometimes as a pick-me-up in the afternoon, but we rarely stop and think about where our coffee comes from. That’s where Coffee Cupping comes into play.
Coffee cupping is a fun way of distinguishing all of the characteristics in the different coffees that we drink, similar to wine tasting, but with coffee instead. Coffee cupping is an act of comparing and contrasting several coffee beans against one another, helping us have a deeper appreciation for the subtleties in coffee flavors and get a better understanding of each unique coffee profile. If you’re interested in doing it yourself, here is an introductory guide to coffee cupping.
We got the coffee rundown from the folks over at Produce District. They taught us many things about the coffee we drink, from where it’s grown to the correct vocabulary to use when describing the taste and smell of a specific blend. It was great learning about something we all interact with each day, while also having fun with each other outside of a professional setting.
Hosting a Team Bonding Experience
If you’re looking for the perfect way to host a great team bonding experience in your workspace, be sure you have the right space and office furniture to provide for your team. When undergoing the furniture procurement process, it is wise to purchase furniture and equipment that will encourage your employees to be more engaged.
Ensure your office space is open, but not too open. Designing a dynamic office space is a delicate balance between providing an environment that stimulates collaboration and interaction while incorporating workspaces that accommodate privacy and minimal distractions. You want to make sure that the experience is fun and social to help encourage teammates to interact with each other.
A great way to make this happen is to purchase the right tables. We don’t think of this often, but much of our work and time in the office takes place on or around tables. Ask yourself what kind of tables are going to spark the most creativity and inspiration in your staff members. Will a wide and flat rectangular design fit perfectly in the primary workspace or perhaps a smaller roundtable to brainstorm ideas during staff meetings?
Whatever you decide is most fitting for your office, make sure that the manufacturers behind the table construction are trustworthy and quality-focused. We particularly enjoyed the KORE Table by Kimball Office, a supplier with excellent service that we highly recommend purchasing commercial furniture from, which allows for 4-6 people to gather around a centralized area with ease and definitely gives off that creative spark.
Whether you’re learning with your teammates about the history of coffee or discussing the best way to implement your new sales strategy, the KORE Collection offers a variety of different options that will best fit your furniture procurement needs.
You can learn more about the Kore collection at the Kimball Office website.
