USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Opens to the Public
This past fall of 2014 the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism opened its brand new building to the public. The school has its very own 2 story, 20,000 square-foot multimedia newsroom.
CPM worked with a team of like-minded companies to create the incredible space. CPM helped with furniture specification, procurement and installment, contributing to the overall look and feel of the newsroom.
A Collaborative Newsroom
The newsroom is set around a 360-degree assignment desk, meant to run the day-to-day work of USC Annenberg’s student news organizations. Surrounded by digital screens above the assignment desk, the newsroom will also have access to a live stream of breaking news to keep students up-to-date.
Designed with Purpose
The studios in the newsroom were designed to be multipurpose to accommodate the different journalism mediums: print/digital, TV and radio. Students now have a television studio with multiple sets, including anchor desks and a green screen, as well as a separate radio studio equipped with broadcast-quality cameras so that radio programming can be used online or on TV as well. A third studio allows students to stream professional-quality audio and video directly to the web.
The Hum Workstations, Scenario Height Adjustable Tables and the Villa Cafe Seating are from Kimball Office, while the Monitor Arms are by Humanscale.
