THE SITUATION

Puppet Labs is the biggest and fastest growing Tech Company in Portland, OR, and in turn has outgrown their existing space in the Pearl District. Puppet Labs’ 75,000 square feet lease in the Block 300 building in downtown Portland will allow the company headquarters to grow to as many as 500 employees.

CPM One Source was engaged by CBRE on behalf of Puppet Labs in September 2014 to provide complete Relocation Project Management and Move Management services for their headquarters relocation from their space in the Pearl District to the newly constructed space in the Block 300 building. The 300 person relocation was completed in a single phase move over one weekend in October.

CPM worked diligently with the CBRE Project Manager, Puppet Labs facilities staff, move team and support staff to identify critical components of the project and successfully formulate a move plan that met Puppet Labs’ requirements, timeline and budget.

Implementation

The CPM project team also worked closely with Sarah Drew, CBRE Project Manager, and the Puppet move team to provide clear communications, keeping the employees informed of all move related activities to ensure a smooth transition. Weekly meetings were held with the facilities team and department representatives to discuss move strategy, schedule and process. CPM’s Senior Project Manager, attended the Company’s “Big Picture” meeting and delivered a presentation with key timeline, packing, tagging and move related information to all employees.

The CPM move team provided best-in-class move services with highest attention to detail and timely responses that proved to be critical in the success of the Puppet relocation. All contents, furniture and equipment were relocated without damage and accurately placed at the final destination. The CPM team’s flexibility and adaptability in the fast paced environment of Puppet were crucial in accomplishing the move within the timeline.

CPM decided that 5 services need to be provided as Relocation Project Management firm.

In moves of this size, it is especially important to maintain clear communication with all involved or who may be affected by the move. The CPM project team worked closely with Sarah Drew, CBRE Project Manager, and the Puppet Labs move team to keep employees informed of all move-related activities. Weekly meetings were held with the facilities team and department representatives to discuss move strategy, schedule and process. CPM’s Senior Project Manager, attended the Company’s “Big Picture” meeting and delivered a presentation with key timeline, packing, tagging and move related information to all employees.
